Crave Real Burgers Unveils the Drunken Mushroom Burger for the James Beard Blended Burger Project CompetitionDENVER—June 2, 2016—Crave Real Burgers today unveiled the “Drunken Mushroom” burger and announced participation in The James Beard Foundation’s (JBF) Blended Burger Project™, a nationwide contest and challenge to make a "blended burger" by combining ground meat with finely chopped, cultivated mushrooms to create a delicious, healthier, and more sustainable burger.
The new burger will be available at all four Crave Real Burgers locations from Memorial Day through July 31. Locals are encouraged to try the burger and then cast an online vote for the Drunken Mushroom burger here bit.ly/VoteForCrave
“The tempura-fried Shiitake and Cremini mushrooms on this burger really set it apart and provide a satisfying crunch with a deep and earthy flavor,” said Head Chef Jeff Richard of Crave Real Burgers. “We hope our local community will support us and try this burger at any of our locations and then vote for our Drunken Mushroom burger online. We want to win and show the rest of the country what Colorado is made of!”
The five chefs that receive the most online votes for their burger will get to travel to New York City’s James Beard House to cook their burgers in October of this year.
The Drunken Mushroom burger consists of a patty made with 75 percent Colorado Proud beef and 25 percent sautéed Shiitake and Cremini mushrooms blended with fresh thyme, rosemary and garlic. The burger is then topped off with truffle mayonnaise, Parmesan, Gruyere and Swiss cheeses, ketchup, and drunken onions with tempura-fried Shiitake and Cremini mushrooms on top. The best part is that the burger is served au jus for dipping!
Diners can vote for Crave and support the Blended Burger Project™ by casting an online vote (once every 24 hours) and by posting their burger photos to social media with the hashtag #blendedburgerproject to spread the word!
