Crave Real Burgers is pleased to announce that the Charity Burger Program will be supporting The Shelter Foundation, a local non-profit in Colorado. The Shelter Foundation was founded after Douglas County Deputy Zack Parrish was killed in the line of duty on New Year’s Eve day 2017. Zack’s young wife, Gracie Parrish, suddenly found herself in the tragic position of losing her law enforcement husband and father to their two young girls. The challenges which laid ahead seemed enormous, but by the strength Gracie found through her faith, worked to establish the Foundation as a way to continue her husband’s legacy of service to their community.

The Shelter Foundation ministers to first responder families in the Denver area through peer-led bible studies and marriage support programs. These efforts aim to bring peace, hope, and joy to a community often faced with daily challenges both on the job and off. Currently, Gracie and the foundation are “working on sending first responder couples to marriage retreats to strengthen their communication, give them a weekend to re-connect without kids, and to encourage them” as they are “up against high divorce rates”.

Come in and try a taste of New York – a Colorado proud burger topped with delicious corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss cheese, 1000 Island Dressing, ketchup and a fried egg! For each of the New York charity burgers sold through November 4th, a dollar will go to The Shelter Foundation. Additionally, both the Highlands Ranch and the Castle Rock locations will be holding a Charity Night on Wednesday, October 23rd, with 20% of the proceeds from attendees going directly to the foundation.

The Shelter Foundation “offers a protected place for first responders and their loved ones to be better equipped to handle the challenges of public safety and the first responder way of life through education, support, and community”.  It is “run by a massive crew of first responders, first responder spouses and civilians who believe in the mission”. As they support the first responder families, please come out to support them between September 9th to November 3rd. Their website and more information can be found at www.theshelterfoundation.org.
